Geastrum quadrifidum DC. ex Pers., Syn. meth. fung. (Göttingen) 1: 133 (1801)

Habitat: On calcareous soil, usually associated with Fagus in beechwoods, and rarely Crataegus and Quercus spp. Also rarely with conifers such as Pinus sylvestris and Taxus.

Notes: Known from Bedfordshire, Co. Durham, East Kent, East & West Norfolk, North & South Essex, North & South Wiltshire, North Somerset, Shropshire, South Hampshire, and West Gloucestershire.
