Habitat: On wood and bark, often on the undersides of large logs in damp places, occasionally on debris such as twigs and sticks in woodland. Usually on Corylus, Fagus and Fraxinu but also known on Alnus, Betula and Salix spp., and the conifers Larix, Picea spp., and Taxus.
Notes: Occasional but widespread, and may be locally abundant in southern England, especially in woodland on calcareous soil.
