Habitat: On decayed debris (leaves, stems etc.) of grasses and herbaceous plants in arable fields, gardens, playing fields and in woodland. Most records are from lawns in late autumn.

Notes: Rarely reported. Known from widely scattered sites in England, from Co. Durham southwards (mostly in southern England) and also from the Republic of Ireland (Co. Dublin: North Bull Island).
