Habitat: On fallen and decayed wood of deciduous trees, usually large fallen branches, trunks or stumps of Fagus and Quercus spp., but also known from a wide range of other broadleaved hosts. Very rarely on decayed wood of conifers such as Picea spp.

Notes: Common and widespread.
