Habitat: On soil, usually calcareous loam, in mixed deciduous woodland or scrub often with Fagus, Corylus and Fraxinus. Rarely with conifers in plantations, or with Urtica dioica in nettlebeds.
Notes: Most often collected in southern and south-eastern England, but known from Northumberland southwards. Less often reported elsewhere but apparently widespread.
