Agaricus bolaris Pers., Syn. meth. fung. (Göttingen) 2: 291 (1801)

Habitat: On acidic or sandy soil in open deciduous woodland, associated with Fagus or Quercus spp. and often with Vaccinium myrtillus.

Notes: Occasional but widespread and may be locally common.
