Habitat: On decayed wood of deciduous trees. Especially frequent on Fagus and Prunus avium.

Notes: Very common and widespread. Basidiomes are macroscopically variable in form and colour, usually bright orange but becoming greyish-orange with age or almost white. Forms on Prunus avium are often pale lilaceous.
