Habitat: Weakly parasitic then saprotrophic. On living, fallen and decayed wood of many species of deciduous trees and shrubs. Reported on conifers such as Picea and Pinus spp., and Taxus but unsubstantiated with voucher material and the hosts are unverified.

Notes: Very common and widespread.
