Habitat: On soil in woodland and shrubberies.

Notes: Rarely recorded and no material traced in herbaria. Possibly only a large-spored form of Agrocybe erebia but this remains unresolved. N.B. Pholiota brunneola sensu Lange is a different species with small spores, as yet unknown in Britain.
