Habitat: Parasitic, then saprotrophic. Most frequently reported on large dead stumps or trunks of Fagus. Also known on Acer pseudoplatanus, Aesculus, Betula spp., Castanea, Crataegus sp., Ilex, Laurus nobilis, Platanus, Populus nigra, Prunus avium, Quercus spp., Robinia pseudoacacia, Sambucus nigra and Ulmus spp. Very rarely on conifers such as Cedrus, Picea and Pinus spp. A single collection from the floorboards of an old house.
