Habitat: On decayed wood of deciduous trees, most frequently Fagus. Also known on conifers such as Cedrus, Juniperus, Picea, Pinus, Sequoia and Tsuga spp., on worked wood in buildings, and on dead lianas of Clematis vitalba.

Notes: Very common and widespread.
