Habitat: Decorticating living and dead attached branches, usually Quercus spp., and rarely Acer pseudoplatanus, Alnus glutinosa, Betula spp., Castanea, Corylus, Fagus, Prunus laurocerasus, P. spinosa, Sambucus nigra, Tilia and Salix spp.

Notes: Very common and widespread. Old records may refer to other, recently distinguished species.
