Habitat: On soil in deciduous and less frequently conifer woodland; commonly on decayed wood of deciduous trees, usually large fallen trunks or decayed piles of sawdust and wood-chips. Increasingly common on flowerbeds mulched with wood chips and shredded bark, in parkland and gardens.
Notes: Common and widespread, especially in southern England, slightly less frequent northwards.
