Habitat: On decayed wood of deciduous trees, usually Fagus and less frequently Betula, Corylus and Quercus spp. Rarely on conifers, such as Picea and Pinus spp.

Notes: Common and widespread but apparently less so in northern areas and few records from Northern Ireland. Occasionally appearing as if terrestrial, but then attached to buried wood.
