Habitat: On decayed conifer wood, usually on large stumps of Pinus spp., less frequently on Picea spp., and rarely Larix spp. Rarely on decayed wood of deciduous trees such as Alnus and Betula spp.

Notes: Common in Caledonian pinewoods, occasional to rare elsewhere but possibly increasing and spreading.
