Cortinarius salor Fr., Epicr. syst. mycol. (Uppsala): 276 (1838) [1836-1838] Habitat: On calcareous soil in woodland.
Notes: 'Very uncommon' fide Orton (1955). A single collection from Surrey in herb. Orton (fide Watling pers. comm.), one unlocalised English collection in herb. K in poor condition and a 2008 collection from East Kent (Queendown Warren). Recorded from Norfolk in 1985 and Yorkshire in 1997, but unsubstantiated with voucher material.
