Habitat: On soil in mixed deciduous woodland, usually associated with Quercus spp.

Notes: Collections from Herefordshire in 1892, West Suffolk in 1951 and Cambridgeshire in 1960, but not reported since. Reported from Shropshire in the late nineteenth century but lacking details or voucher material. A large species, unlikely to be overlooked and apparently genuinely rare.
