Habitat: On acidic soil, associated with Pinus sylvestris on heathland, often amongst Calluna in such habitat, and occasionally on decayed conifer wood such as logs and stumps.
Notes: Rather common in Scotland and Wales, occasional but widespread in England, and rarely reported in Ireland.
