Habitat: Usually on decayed wood of conifers such as Larix, Picea, Pinus, Pseudotsuga and Thuja spp., especially on old stacks of logs in plantations. Much less frequent on wood of deciduous trees, but known on Aesculus, Alnus, Betula, Corylus, Fagus and Salix spp.

Notes: Common and widespread in England. Rarely reported elsewhere (last reported from Wales in 1915).
