Russula elegans sensu Cooke [Ill. Brit. Fung. 1018 (1027) Vol. 7 (1888)]

Habitat: On soil, with Fagus, Quercus and Salix spp., in mixed deciduous woodland.

Notes: Rarely reported. Most records and collections are from southern England. Reported from Northern Ireland and Wales but records are old and unsubstantiated with voucher material. Some may possibly refer to R. globispora.
