Habitat: On soil, in deciduous or mixed woodland, usually associated with Betula, Quercus or Pinus spp. Recently reported from Republic of Ireland in association with Dryas octopetala.

Notes: Apparently widespread but poorly known in Britain. Most records are old and unsubstantiated with voucher material.
