Lactarius uvidus (Fr.) Fr., Epicr. syst. mycol. (Uppsala): 338 (1838) [1836-1838]

Agaricus uvidus Fr., Observ. mycol. (Leipzig) 2: 191 (1818)

Habitat: On soil, often in wet areas in deciduous woodland. Usually associated with Betula spp., but also reported with Alnus, Corylus, Quercus and Salix spp. in similar habitats.

Notes: Occasional in Scotland. Rarely reported elsewhere but apparently widespread.
