Habitat: On decayed wood of deciduous trees, most frequently Fraxinus but also known on Acer campestre, Crataegus monogyna, Corylus, Euonymus europaeus, Fagus, Hedera, Lonicera nitida, Rubus fruticosus agg., Salix fragilis and Ulex europaeus.

Notes: Occasional in western and south-western England, and Wales, much less frequent elsewhere and rare in southeastern England. Perhaps better known as Pulcherricium caeruleum.
