Habitat: On soil and decayed wood in deciduous woodland, also amongst grass on lawns and on mud or decayed grass debris by dried-out pools or ponds.
Notes: Very common and widespread. A cosmopolitan species, variable macroscopically as reflected in the large number of synonyms [see van Waveren in TBMS 75:429-437 (1980)].
