Habitat: On dead wood and bark of a wide range of deciduous trees, and especially common on brashings of Acer pseudoplatanus. Rarely on conifers such as Picea and Pinus spp., and on stored apples.
Notes: Very common and widespread. Basidiomes are usually resupinate or effuso-reflexed; pileate forms were previously known as 'forma cucullata' or Cladoderris minima. Causes 'Fish Eye Disease' in stored apples.
