Sparassis crispa (Wulfen) Fr., Syst. mycol. (Lundae) 1: 465 (1821) Habitat: Parasitic then saprotrophic on roots of conifers, usually Pinus spp., but also known on Cedrus, Picea, Pseudotsuga and Sequoia spp. Continuing to fruit after the death of the host.
Notes: Common and widespread, but few records from Northern Ireland.
