Habitat: On dead wood of deciduous trees, often old stumps or fallen trunks of Acer campestre, A. pseudoplatanus and Fagus.

Notes: Occasional but widespread in England, rarely reported elsewhere. Early collections from Scotland (Angus and Kincardineshire) in herb. K but none since. Reported from Northern Ireland but unsubstantiated with voucher material.
