Habitat: On dead wood of conifers such as Picea, Pinus and Pseudotsuga spp., usually on large logs or stumps. Reports on broadleaved trees are rare and the substratum usually lacks verification but vouchered exceptions include an English collection from South Northumberland (Kielder Forest) on Betula.
Notes: Common and widespread throughout Scotland, much less frequent southwards.
