Habitat: On soil amongst grass in woodland glades, and a single collection on a spoil heap by a coal mine.
Notes: Rarely reported. British collections from widely scattered locations in England and Wales with the majority from around the English-Welsh borders. A single collection from Scotland (Stirling: Doune Ponds). Probably genuinely rare in Britain, the distinctive basidiomes making it unlikely to be overlooked.
