Habitat: On soil in deciduous woodland, usually associated with Corylus, Fagus or Fraxinus. Rarely on decayed wood such as old stumps or large logs.
Notes: Rather common in England, especially so in areas of calcareous loam soil in southern counties. Occasional to rather rare elsewhere but widespread.
