Habitat: On soil (usually calcareous) amongst litter of deciduous trees in woodland. Usually found with Fagus in beechwoods and uncommonly with Betula, Corylus and Quercus spp. Rarely reported with conifers such as Larix and Pinus spp.
Notes: Occasional in England and most common in the south and south-east. Rarely reported elsewhere but apparently widespread and known as far north as Perthshire.
