Habitat: On wood, often small, decorticate fallen branches of deciduous trees and shrubs. Most often reported on Corylus, Fagus and Salix spp. Rarer hosts include Betula spp., Euonymus europaeus, Garrya elliptica, Ligustrum vulgare, Populus spp., Quercus spp., and Rosa canina.

Notes: Common in England, especially in woodland on calcareous soils in southern counties, but less often reported elsewhere and seemingly rare in Scotland.
