Marasmius bulliardii Quél., Bull. Soc. bot. Fr. 24: 323 (1878) [1877]

Habitat: On fallen and decayed leaves of deciduous trees, usually Fagus and Fraxinus in old woodland. Rarely reported on Alnus, Betula, Corylus and Quercus spp. Often fruiting late in the autumn.

Notes: Occasional but apparently widespread. Possibly under-recorded since basidiomes are small and cryptically coloured. Reports of this species on conifer litter may represent M. wettsteinii, a similar species as yet unknown in Britain.
