Habitat: On acidic soil under conifers. British material with Larix and Pinus spp., but also known with Picea spp. in continental Europe.

Notes: Known from Scotland but not reported in recent years (last record in 1957). The single record from England (Cumberland) in 1996, supposedly with Picea sp., is unsubstantiated with voucher material.
