Description: Thallus Coriscium-type. Cap 10–20 mm diam., convex-depressed, becoming funnel-shaped, cream to buff or pale orange-yellow, finely tomentose; margin lightly crenate, weakly transparent-striate. Gills ± concolorous with cap, shortly to strongly decurrent, moderately distant, veined. Stem to 20 × 2·5–3 mm, pale lilaceous at first, soon becoming whitish or cream but retaining a pink flush at apex, finely pubescent throughout; hairs cylindrical. Hyphal pigment intercellular; clamp connections absent. Basidia 4-spored. Basidiospores 8·5–10 × 4·5–5·2 µm, ellipsoid.
Habitat: On acidic peaty soil, with the anamorphic lichen stage Coriscium viride on heathland and moorland.
Notes: Rather common in Scotland. Rarely reported elsewhere but apparently widespread.
