Russula subfoetens Wm.G. Sm., J. Bot. Lond. 11: 337 (1873)

Russula subfoetens var. grata sensu auct.

Habitat: On soil, usually with Fagus and Quercus spp. and less often with Corylus in old mixed deciduous woodland.

Notes: Rarely reported and several of the collections in herb. K are redetermined as R. foetens. Apparently widespread. Sensu Rea (1922) is R. farinipes.
