Habitat: On sandy soil, associated with deciduous trees in dry woodland.
Notes: Rarely reported. Apparently widespread in England (Leicestershire to West Cornwall) and Wales (Cardiganshire) but mainly southern and south western. Reported from Northern Ireland but only a painting exists, in herb. K, of material collected in Armagh in .
