Habitat: On disturbed soil, usually in gardens, but also (rarely) in clearings in deciduous woodland. Usually fruiting in the winter.

Notes: Presumably an alien, native in Australia and New Zealand, established in a few scattered localities in southern England, from where first reported in 1955. Known from East Suffolk, Middlesex and Surrey.
