Habitat: On soil in deciduous and conifer woodland.
Notes: Rarely reported. Known only from Surrey (Hindhead, and Ockley), and reported from Scotland (Easterness and Morayshire) in 1912 and from Northern Ireland (Down) in 1968. Previously regarded as a just a pallid form of Lepista nuda with a strong and unpleasant smell (said to resemble menthol).
