Habitat: In large clumps on decayed conifer wood, usually large stumps or fallen branches.

Notes: Fide BFF8 this is 'not uncommon' in northern England and in Scotland but is virtually unknown in the south. Reported from the Republic of Ireland but unsubstantiated with voucher material.
