Habitat: On soil amongst grass in unimproved grassland, on heaths, moors and in pasture.

Notes: Occasional but widespread. Basidiomes are often a distinct peach-yellow colour, but require microscopic examination to distinguish them from C. helvola and C. luteoalba.
