Boletus aereus Bull., Herb. Fr. (Paris) 9: tab. 385 (1789)

Habitat: On soil in mixed deciduous woodland or parkland, usually associated with Quercus spp., less often Fagus or Tilia spp.

Notes: Rarely reported. Most British collections are from Berkshire (Windsor Great Park) and South Hampshire (New Forest) but also known from Hertfordshire, Surrey and West Kent and from Scotland (South Aberdeenshire).
