Habitat: On dead wood of deciduous trees in mixed woodland. British material on Betula spp.
Notes: Extremely rare and possibly extinct. Last confirmed collection (specimen in herb. K) from Scotland (Mid-Perthshire: Murthly) in 1913. Reported from England (Herefordshire in 1902, South Lancashire 1981, East Gloucestershire in 1994, and Yorkshire) but unsubstantiated with voucher material or misdetermined Daedaleopsis confragosa.
