Lactarius musteus Fr., Epicr. syst. mycol. (Uppsala): 337 (1838) [1836-1838]

Habitat: On soil in Caledonian pinewoods, usually in boggy areas, with or near Sphagnum spp., growing under Pinus sylvestris.

Notes: Rarely reported but rather frequent in Caledonian pine forests.
