Russula helodes Melzer, Bull. trimest. Soc. mycol. Fr. 45: 284 (1929) Habitat: On soil, in mixed conifer and deciduous woodland, often in damp areas. British material with mixed Betula, Picea and Pinus spp.
Notes: Known from Westmorland and Yorkshire. Reported from Wales (Glamorganshire) in 1973 but unsubstantiated with voucher material.
