Habitat: On humic soil in deciduous woodland and with conifers. Also reported in gardens and on lawns near trees.

Notes: Rarely reported but apparently widespread. Interpreted here in a broad sense for a woodland species that includes both A. purpurellus and A. semotus of NCL but excludes A. dulcidulus sensu NCL and Lange (FlDan4: 61 & pl. 135C) which is different and a doubtful member of section Minores.
