Habitat: On soil (usually calcareous) in deciduous woodland, most frequently associated with Fagus, Corylus or Betula spp. A summer species, appearing as early as June but rarely lasting into autumn.
Notes: Rarely reported but widespread in England, from Durham southwards, most often recorded from southern counties, and a single report from Republic of Ireland. A highly toxic species.
